Solar film for automotive tinted windows

Efficient sun protection and improved design

The pleasure of driving in a cabin that is protected from the sun's rays

Solar protection films for automotive windows offer real advantages for all vehicle passengers, whether they are professionals or individuals.

A professional solar film for automotive windows is designed to protect the occupants of a vehicle from the harmful rays of the sun without disturbing vision or changing the colors seen by transparency. Thus, by its design, a window film rejects infrared rays, the main cause of heat, to control the excessive contribution of solar heat to the passenger compartment and reduce the use of air conditioning. Equipped with an anti-UV filter, window films delay the premature aging of plastics, leathers and fabrics but above all protect occupants from the harmful effects of ultraviolet light such as sunburn.
By polarizing light, solar protection films reduce glare from the sun, offering passengers better visual comfort.

Solar Heat Rejection

Solar protection films for automotive windows are designed to act on solar heat and thus make the temperature of the passenger compartment more comfortable without excessive loss of brightness.

Solar heat is produced by three types of wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum :
Ultraviolet (UV) - 3% / Light - 44% / Infrared (IR) - 53%.

Solar films for automotive windows can be classified into three categories depending on their design which will influence the filtration of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Glare reduction

By a light polarization effect and associated with the tint level, a solar film reduces glare due to the sun or the headlights of other vehicles while maintaining maximum brightness. Thus the contours of objects are sharper, visibility is increased in order to drive in complete safety.

Reducing glare also makes it easier to distinguish images displayed on a screen, useful for children sitting in the back seats during holiday departures.

Ultraviolet (UV) filtering

Ultraviolet rays are not only harmful to the skin but are also the main cause of discoloration of objects.

Professional window films have UV filters that are either incorporated into the different layers of the film or incorporated into the adhesive or both.
A solar film for automotive windows will act as a « total screen » protecting people inside a vehicle from UV-A and UV-B while limiting the premature aging of leather, plastics and fabrics in the passenger compartment.

Reduced use of air conditioning and improved ride comfort

Glass surfaces play an important role in vehicle design. This is all the more true with the increase in panoramic sunroofs and panoramic windshields.

All this light input is also a passageway for solar heat and consequently for a significant rise in the temperature inside the vehicle. This continual supply of heat forces the air conditioning systems to work ever harder to lower the indoor temperature to an acceptable level. An increase in the use of air conditioning is always accompanied by an increase in fuel consumption.

With a solar control film for automobile windows, the excess gain of solar heat entering the vehicle is reduced, making the operation of air conditioning systems easier. A reduction in the heat in the passenger compartment also reduces the irritation, which promotes smoother driving.

All these elements combined promote a reduction in fuel consumption,
for a reduction in CO₂ emissions (greenhouse gas) and therefore a reduction in energy costs.

Aesthetics improvement

Under the advice of a professional in the treatment of windows, the application of films to over-tint automotive windows greatly improves the aesthetics of the vehicle. In addition, by choosing quality solar films, it is possible to use light tints for a whole in sobriety and at the same time maintain maximum protection against the harmful rays of the sun.

Original tinted windows are a treatment in the mass of the glass but act mainly on the visible light spectrum. In other words, when the transmission of light decreases this acts on a small part of the heat transmitted by the light. But it does not act on infrared (mainly responsible for heat) or on ultraviolet (mainly responsible for premature cellular aging).

With far superior performance to mass-treated glass, solar protection films for automotive windows operate on all aspects of the electromagnetic spectrum, namely ultraviolet, infrared and visible light, for maximum protection for vehicle passengers.
